Chocolate Crinkles

Ingredients (approx. 15 cookies)

  • 1 cup (125g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (75g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (115g) powdered sugar (for coating)

Meal Procedure

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder and sugar until well combined.
  2. Add the vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Don't overmix.
  5. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or until firm enough to shape.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Using a tablespoon, scoop out the dough and roll into balls.
  8. Roll each ball in the powdered sugar, coating it generously.
  9. Place the cookie balls on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them for spreading.
  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are slightly soft.
  11. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
